Hey everyone,

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there! You have worked hard all weekend all year and, on this day, you will finally be able to sleep in, get breakfast in bed, get pampered and get some love like you deserve. And don’t forget, to treat your own mother on Mother’s Day, because you know too well what it takes to be one.

Well, it’s a few hours before Mother’s Day and you just remembered that mothers’ day is the next day. What can you do? What do you do? You know that if you do nothing, you will hear about it for the rest of your life, or if you’re in my shoes, you will hear the “For the nine month I carry you” song over and over again. So, to avoid this- do something, plan something! Here, I will provide you with last minute things that you can do to make the day special.

  1. Spa treatment– Nothing beats a spa treatment. Google a few spas in the area, call ahead to book an appointment. Chances are because it’s a special day, they may squeeze you in.
  2. Take over the household– Your mom is the CEO of the house- cooking, cleaning, caring etc. On this one day and perhaps many others, allow her to put her feet up and relax. Do the cooking even if you just try a thing, do the groceries, laundry etc. I can almost guarantee that she will love and appreciate it. Get a hold of her daily planner and it will tell you exactly what needs to be done.

3. Surprise her with her favorite dish– You can’t go wrong with surprising your mom with her favorite dish. The one that she’s been preparing on thanksgiving dinners, Christmas dinners and even for potlucks. Get the recipe by perhaps googling it or ask family members, head to the store with your grocery list to get the ingredients and have a fun time preparing it. This will be a perfect time to get the kids involved.

4. Spend time with the grandbabies– Moms will always be moms. Caring is in their DNA. Nothing will put a smile on their face when they spend time with the grandkids. Be sure to bring some activities such as a coloring book to keep them occupied.

5. Buy her flowers– Mothers have made so many sacrifices for their kids. They go through so much to see that their kids have everything that they need and sometimes all they want to see is some form of appreciation. They’re not asking for the world! And a simple bouquet does just that. Head down to the flower shop and get her the largest bouquet you can find. You can’t go wrong with flowers.

So, there you have it- Five last minute, yet simple things that you can do to surprise your mom on Mother’s Day.
